The Chairman
Welcome to everyone who has an interest in our organization. Our door is always open. Our Children’s Center is a non-profit entity serving children and families who are some of the most vulnerable in our community.
We are all impermanent on this planet. In reality our lifetime spans just a few years. That is why we ought to do something remarkable before our time for leaving comes. Even a small effort will make a significant difference in society for giving something better for future generations. We came into this world with nothing in our hands and when we leave this earth we take nothing with us except what we gave as charity.
So, while we are here, we must do something for the development of society and for the children. Social work is a significant endeavor which can change important things. Everybody thinks about paradise as their final destination but to reach there we must do good work and to be an ideal people, striving for the betterment of others.
Even though our organization is fairly new in the field and region, we already have high demands to accommodate more disabled children. So, we would like to request you to help us with whatever resources you can provide for these special kids. Even a small contribution can bring momentous changes in their lives.

Ubad Gargaar Story
Background
Ubad Gargaar Special Needs Center was established in 2019 as a result of an unmet felt need from within the local community. There was an increasing demand from parents of special needs children looking for competent service providers. Ubad Gargaar initially focused on meeting the needs of children with physical disabilities, specifically providing services for children with Cerebral Palsy. After marked success in this endeavor, we expanded to caring for the needs of children with Autism, Downs Syndrome and other developmental disabilities. Currently, Ubad Gargaar and the Learning Center is registered under the Ministry of Education as well as the Ministry of National Planning and Development. We are poised to make a meaningful impact within our city and region.

Vision and Mission
The ongoing vision of Ubad Gargaar is to be the most highly trained provider of professional special needs services for children and their families throughout Somaliland. For each client we work with, we seek to provide an individualized treatment plan focused on improving their quality of life and well-being. Our activities are wholistic, working with both the child and family.
We have an eye on the future. Our current facility s reached full capacity and there is a need to expand. The government of Somaliland has gifted our organization with land in order to build a new facility in order to increase our services. Architects have already drawn up plans for an expanded facility catering to both physical disabilities and children with developmental difficulties. As this new facility is developed, it will serve as our competency center for education, treatment and training. We continue to advocate for a vision to establish smaller regional facilities located throughout the city of Hargeisa and eventually into other parts of the country.

Apart from the educational and therapy focal points, Ubad-Gargaar conducts community mobilizations to increase the level of understanding of Special Needs Children, and that those living with Autism and other forms of disabilities have the right to education, health and wellbeing. The Center offers all services free of any charges and does not discriminate against any child on any ground whatsoever. We often network with certified medical professionals who can provide specific treatment that our Center may not offer.

Masalah Area
At Ubad Gargaar, we believe that our workspace is an essential element in fostering the educational needs as well as the therapeutic base that is highly sought for by families having special needs children. We believe that we can be a collaboration and innovation-competency hub for these much sought after services in Somaliland. Ubad Gargaar has an office in Masalah area, Hargeisa. Our facility is located next to Sh. Mustafa Mosque. We offer our services to children living with ASD, Down Syndrome, Cognitive Developmental Disorders, as well as physical challenges such as Cerebral Palsy. The premises currently house all the programs that we offer. With the increasing number of parents seeking to enroll their children, we are currently engaged in an expansion plan to have a larger facility.

Our Concern
Client Focus
As an organization, Ubad Gargaar is unique to our country. We offer much sought-after services to our clients on a charity basis, void of any human bias. We start with a thorough interview process and assessment, determining if a child and family are a good fit for the programs that we offer. We then design an individualized education and treatment plan that is most effective for the child. After a child is accepted into the program, there is continued analysis and subsequent consultation amongst our team measuring progress and proactively anticipating further growth. Because of the nature of developmental disabilities and challenges, we promote the reality that we are all on a lifelong learning curve, always creatively thinking about how to improve the quality of life for our clients and how to integrate best practices into all aspects of the child’s life and his or her family.

Autism Program
Our autism program utilizes the SCERTS model, emphasizing social, communication skills, and emotional regulation, serving children aged 4-8 with ongoing staff training.
Family Empowerment
Ubad Gargaar’s family empowerment program offers training, home visitations, and support for parents of developmentally disabled children, fostering holistic growth and inclusion.
Community Advocacy
Ubad Gargaar’s advocacy program raises awareness and influences policy to empower the developmentally disabled community, fostering understanding and positive change in society.
Malnutrition Program
Ubad Gargaar’s malnutrition program, in partnership with World Vision and World Food Program, assesses each child’s nutritional status and provides personalized nutrition plans and support.
